DITF in partnership with the Cohen Group conducted a study of Silica dust created in the application of installing gypsum board.
Control Joints for Gypsum Wallboard
Control (expansion-contraction) Joint is a designed separation in the systems materials that allows for movement caused by expansion or contraction of the system. The expansion or contraction of a system can be caused by many sources; the primary source is dimensional changes in framing related to changes in temperature and humidity, both of which affect stability of either wood or metal framing.
Gaps with Gypsum Wallboard Panel Installation
The installation of gypsum wallboard (drywall) to framed walls and ceilings is often used to serve a variety of functions, including aesthetics, shear, and sound and fire resistance. When fire resistance is the primary concern, the allowable gaps in installation are tighter than for non-rated construction.
Green Board: Using it the Correct Way
In 2005 the building code began to limit the use of water resistance board “Green Board” in showers and tub surrounds. That language has become more limiting in the International Building Code and California Building Code.
Cracks in Gypsum Panel Products on Wood Framing
The installation of gypsum wallboard (drywall) to wood framed walls and ceilings is often used to serve a variety of functions, including finishing and substrate sheathing, shear, sound and/or fire resistance.
